How does the custom invitation process work?

Wedding invitations are a big deal. They make everything feel real! Below you will find information on how to get started with custom wedding invitations and answers to questions about details and etiquette. Please feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions!

Call, text, email, send a carrier pigeon... whatever you gotta do to my attention. Or click here to visit the contact page. Just let me know that you're interested in my invitation services.

I will email you a questionnaire form after you contact me or you can fill it out on our contact page! This will help me determine a creative direction for your invitations based on your ideas, style and budget. Next we will schedule a time to meet in-person, talk on the phone, or video chat. Meeting in-person will allow you to see samples of my custom work and allow you to get to know me, however I work with couples from across the world. Be prepared to discuss the quantity of stationery pieces needed as well as the information you would like to convey to your guests. Fabric swatches, pictures from magazines and Pinterest are great sources of inspiration.

A price quote is prepared for you based on your specific project requirements, but click here to view a basic overview of our pricing! Our average bride spends between $1,000 - $2,000 on their wedding invitations, depending on how many suites they need, the printing method, and how many bells and whistles they want to add on. It is my goal to design the invitation and coordinating elements of your dreams while staying within your budget. If you are happy with the quote, I will then ask you to sign a contract and pay a 50% non-refundable deposit, which will place you on my design calendar.

I will send you a timeline of the design process so we can stay on track with deadlines. You will then receive multiple electronic full color proofs. We will be able make any necessary changes to the wording, graphics or overall design of your invitation suite. Once your changes have been made, you will receive another round of electronic proofs via email.

Invitation proofs will be digitally mocked up and emailed to you. It will be your responsibility to review and confirm that every design detail is to your satisfaction, including the spelling, grammar and punctuation. Please carefully check your design files during every step of this process.

When you have approved your final stationery suite for print, your remaining balance is due before production can begin. This step takes 2-3 weeks. All of the printing and finishing services are completed in-house. Assembly and stuffing services are also available for an additional fee. We oversee every detail of the production to ensure that your project will exceed your expectations!

Once your invitations are assembled a meet up can be scheduled for delivery. If you’re unavailable or outside the Cedar Rapids area we will ship your invitations via USPS. Shipping takes 3-5 business days.

How does purchasing an invitation suite from the shop work?

Great question! First off, let's discuss the difference between custom design and purchasing a semi-custom invitation suite from the shop. Custom design is an invitation suite designed from scratch. We truly get to know you and your wedding so we can create a personalized suite for you. We often book our custom clients a year before their wedding day. The shop is pre-designed suites at a cheaper price, but they have the same exceptional quality. Purchasing from our shop is a great way to cut back on cost.

Of course! The point of the collection is for it to be customized to fit your unique wedding. If you love a design but want to change out the color, fonts, or images, just let me know. We won't completely re-design the suite, but we will make little tweaks so it fits your wedding aesthetic!

Purchasing an invitation suite from the shop includes 3 free rounds of proofing of your entire order. Every additional change to your proof after two rounds will incur a $50 fee, billed separately.

There are many different ways to dress up your invitation suite. Some ways include enclosures, ribbon, specialty backings or printing, envelope liners, and more. One or all of these additional offerings can bring your suite together and coordinate nicely with your theme and color palette.

What are the rules on invitation etiquette?
